The Spectrum School
Somatic, trauma-informed education and developmental programs for children with autism and ADD/ADHD.

A donor-funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to bring this vision for children and families to life.

Why Families Seek Support

Many children with autism and children with ADD/ADHD are placed in educational or therapeutic environments that emphasize behavioral compliance before connection, regulation, and embodied learning are fully supported. When a child’s sensory and nervous-system needs are not understood, children can remain dysregulated and families may feel overwhelmed or unsure where to turn.

Families often encounter:
Limited access to trauma-informed, brain-body based programs
  Long waitlists for appropriate support
Interventions that do not address sensory and nervous-system needs
A lack of caregiver education about how a child’s nervous system responds to stress and overwhelm

The Spectrum School was created to help meet this need with care, intention, and deep respect for each child’s individuality.
We believe that when children and caregivers receive the right support, the entire family system benefits.

Programs & Support
Choose the support that fits your child’s needs— while building skills for long-term well-being.
Child Programs
Learning experiences that support regulation, communication, and engagement through relationship, movement, sensory awareness, and play—without pressure to perform or conform.
Caregiver Support
Practical, compassionate guidance to help you understand your child’s nervous system, reduce daily stress, and create routines that work at home. Support may also include guidance for strengthening connection within the family, helping caregivers care for their own nervous systems and relationships while supporting their child.

Workshops & Training
For caregivers, educators, and community partners who want trauma-informed, somatic tools that support regulation and learning—without shame or coercion.
What makes us different
We exist to offer a supportive alternative to traditional models that emphasize compliance and behavior modification without sufficient attention to nervous-system safety and emotional regulation.
Here, the goal isn’t “better behavior.” The goal is a regulated, connected child who can learn, play, and participate with dignity.
Our core commitments
  • Child-centered support that honors sensory and emotional needs
  • Trauma-informed, relationship-based learning environments
  • Somatic tools for regulation, engagement, and resilience
  • Caregiver partnership—because you deserve support too
